Compassionate Support for Your Choice at Life’s End

Whether you're considering medical aid in dying in Vermont or supporting a loved one who is, you don't have to navigate it alone. Doula Care for Dying is here to walk with you—gently, without judgment, and with the respect your decision deserves.
"I am forever grateful for the role Kasey played in helping us navigate this incredibly difficult time. Her direct support allowed us to honor my dad’s wishes and ensured he was treated with the utmost respect. I highly recommend Kasey to anyone considering Death with Dignity or end-of-life care in Vermont. Her experience, compassion, and dedication made all the difference for our family."
- L.L., daughter

What is Medical Aid in Dying?

Medical aid in dying is a legal end-of-life option in several states, allowing terminally ill adults to request medication to end their lives peacefully, at a time of their choosing. It is a deeply personal choice. Compassionate, informed support can make a profound difference.

In Vermont, medical aid in dying was legalized in May of 2013 under the Patient Choice at End of Life law (Act 39). This law was amended in April of 2022 to provide legal immunity, allow telemedicine, and eliminate the final 48 hour delay. In May of 2023 House Bill 190 passed into law lifting the residency requirement from the law.

As of this writing, a qualified individual may request a prescription for medication to hasten their death under Act 39. To qualify an individual must:
  • Be able to make and communicate their medical decisions,
  • Have a terminal condition with a prognosis of six months or less
  • Be making an informed and voluntary request, and
  • Be able to self-administer the medication

"Thanks to you, and the MAID program in VT, our son did not have to suffer needlessly for an extended period of time. That would have been a terrible heartbreak to my wife and I.
I’ll always remember you.
God Bless"
-R.W., father and caregiver

"When my dad was placed on hospice, he made the decision that he had completed his time on Earth and wanted to have control over the narrative of his death...we found ourselves in need of compassionate, knowledgeable support. That’s when we were fortunate enough to find Kasey March, who was there with us every step of the way."

I believe financial resources, including income, are not and should not be the only determining factor in whether or not someone can access services/care/etc. I offer sliding scale pricing because I am committed to serving individuals and/or communities that would otherwise not be able to afford the services.

When some clients have been able to pay at the higher end of the scale, it has allowed me to offer extraordinarily reduced rates and even pro bono support for others. Your choice to pay more, if you’re able, directly helps make this work more accessible to someone else who may not have the same financial resources.
